Why does Apostle Paul Speak in tongues?
1 Corinthians 14:2 - For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. The bible says that this is a form of edification. What is edification? To educate, to receive intruction, to teach, to receive training, tutelage, to receive guidance and tuition.
The Greek meaning for edification is to build a building, the building of a house, a structure. You are a Temple containing an altar, that must be built up by spending time in intimacy with God The Father.
I Corintians 14:5 King James Bible I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
…4. One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church. 5. Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. 6. But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching?…
While Paul was on the earth he spoke in tongues to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ; to receive revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit.
Paul wants you to know the thing you did not know before. Listen to the Fire Pointe teaching on tongues.
